WOMF - Spring Edition

Hello lovelies

2014 is moving fast, as February is fast drawing to an end we enter Spring and so I took Sunday's beautiful weather as an opportunity to get outside and was inspired to do a What's On My Face - Spring Edition. Basically I'm going to share with you a pretty, feminine makeup look I think will be my 'go-to' this Spring.

For base I'm using my Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation and concealer combo because I love the dewy, awake affect it gives my skin and how brightening the concealer is under my eyes. To set, I use my Rimmel Stay Matte powder. A win for Rimmel this Spring!

To contour (a must have step for me) I'm using my Bourjois chocolate bronzer to add even more shimmery Spring fun and on the cheeks my BRIGHT and cheerful Flamingo blush from Sleek. A little goes a long way with this product!

On my eyes, as a base I'm using my favourite from the Maybelline 24 hour Colour Tattoo collection, 'Pink Gold' beneath anything from my Naked 3 palette (I like to mix it up on a day to day basis) which has beautiful rose gold shades perfect for Spring time.

Maybe on top of the shadow I'll add a sprinkle of Sleek eye dust in Innocence. This product just brightens up any look and adds some glamour. Just what a girl needs in her life when the sunshine finally starts to show its face!

Finally, to match the blush, I'm using my Bourjois Colour boost lip crayon in Red Sunshine on the lips for the full on pink, spring look! Yipee. I told you it would be feminine and pretty. This swatch doesn't really do it justice, take a look for yourself at the product here

So that's what I'm wearing this Spring, what about you? Do you have a go to look for the coming season? Is pretty and pink your thing or not so much?

Until next time
xx

Maybelline Baby Lips

Hello lovelies

Today I have for you a post that has been almost a year in waiting. I cannot believe I haven't done this before because this is by far my favourite range in terms of lip balms. I adore these. Let's review Maybelline Baby Lips!

I do, in fact, own all six of the Baby Lips available in Superdrug/Boots on the Isle of Man but I can't seem to find the Hydrate one at the moment, I'm pretty sure I left it in my college bag but it's not there. Hmm.

So Maybelline released these in the UK last August and I held off at first as I always do with new releases, to give myself a chance to hear some reviews. I'm not in a position where I can afford to buy products and not like them. I heard a huge amount of good reviews and one month later I'd bought them all. Here is another good review to add to the pile...

My favourites (I also love Hydrate) from the dozen available.

The balms contain Shea butter to give softness, Vitamins that condition the lips and SPF 20 that protects lips from sun damage. There are also hints of Centalla to plump up the lips. A good all rounder, wouldn't you say?

They claim to hydrate for up to 8 hours. Although they certainly do hydrate for a while, I find myself topping up after about 4-5 hours. They leave my lips well conditioned and super soft after every application, so it's OK.

In the UK you can purchase these from Boots and Superdrug for just £2.99! You read correctly there, all that goodness for less than a fiver. It's a miracle.

We can't forget that half of the range are tinted. There really is a colour for everyone; Peach Kiss suits darker skin tones, it looks beautifully on my Indian friend. She wears it daily and loves it. It's the gold shimmer that makes the look.
The Pink Punch suits paler people. It's a bright pink shade that just sits it my drawer because it doesn't really suit me. I also think this one looks great on blondes!
Finally, Cherry Me suits the in the middle people, like me. This is a pink toned red. I like it a lot.
The colours are quite subtle but can be built up for a stronger look. Which is your favourite?

I use Intense Care (yellow one) every night before bed and every morning when I wake up and I've not suffered from painful chapped lips all Winter. For me, this is a big achievement. I carry Hydrate with me to college and keep Cherry Me in my daily makeup bag for a pop of colour whenever I feel like it.

I applied this in a lecture one day and my friend walked in and said "Your lips look great, they've gone a pretty cherry colour" - so the colour must show through well and of course I was more than happy to receive the compliment and tell her about Baby Lips.

10 out of 10 Maybelline, but please bring the rest of the range to the UK!

So there is my opinion, what's yours? and if you haven't tried them yet, WHY?

Until next time
xx

Sleek Brow Kit

Hello lovelies

If you remember in this post I talked about using the Sleek Brow Kit in one of my makeup looks - but not for the brows, as an amazing eye liner. I said I would do a post all about it and here it is.

You can get hold of this product from the Sleek website for £8.49. With the sleek (see what I did there?) and sturdy perfectly sized packaging and the amount of product you get I would say this is a fair price. It is available in four shades; Light, Dark, Extra Dark & Black. I have it in Extra Dark. It comes with two tiny brushes (angled for application and rounded for blending) and a pair of tiny tweezers.

Now, before we move on I feel like I just have to give a shout out to my cat who decided he would love to help me with this review by getting into all of the photographs, and then deciding what he thought by first having a sniff and then admiring himself in the mirror...

As I am sure I have probably told you before, I'm no good at eye brows. If I pluck them or wax them or even brush them I end up with two completely different but both equally as odd looking brows. So I don't even attempt to fill them in! Don't get me wrong, I have tried SO many different products but for me, I've just never found something that looks even slightly natural. Therefore I don't feel like I can truly review this as an eye brow kit. I can however, tell you how it makes the perfect eye liner combo.

L: powder, R: wax - There is that darn cat, again!
On my nails is NYC nail polish in Pier 17 and the Barry M limited edition silver glitter.

If you take the angled brush (or any eye liner brush of your choice) and the 'setting powder', you can lightly draw on where you want your line to be. You can easily experiment at perfecting the cat wing because if you go wrong it wont matter in the end.
When you're happy, using the same brush you can take the darker 'shaping wax' and go over the top of the line to make your eyeliner stand out. Finally, use the blending brush to blend the colour as close to the lash line as possible and voila! Perfect eye liner as shown in the post linked at the beginning.

How do you accomplish good eyeliner? Have you tried this product? Tell me what you think.

Until next time
xx

Lifestyle - Sunday Afternoon

Hello lovelies

So I know I've been promising reviews of the Sleek brow kit and Maybelline baby lips - and those are in progress - but today I had a lovely trip out with my friend and I thought I would share some photos with you!

First we had some lunch in a cafe - crumbs on the table, tut tut!

I went with a slice of Coffee cake (very moist but otherwise bland, wouldn't get it again) while my friend got a chicken sandwich. Yum!

After eating food, we went to drool over food in the deli. I've never tried Macarons but these looked cute.

I admired the pretty sugared almonds while I actually bought some American chocolate. I went for a bar of plain milk but I didn't really like it. The dark chocolate was better.

Mmm these champagne truffles scream sophistication at me! Alas, I couldn't afford them.

Next we went to the scent section and sniffed candles until our noses could take no more..

So this picture didn't turn out so good but look at all the pretty candles <3

We had a quick wander through homeware and then went to the bath and body section. I really like this photo frame.. at £50.00 though I don't think it'll ever be mine!

Look at all those cute bath bombs and vintage things! Heatchote & Ivory has THE prettiest packaging.

I hope you enjoyed this long photo filled lifestyle post. It is something new for me and maybe I'll do more? Let me know. How did you spend your Sunday?

Until next time

Fashion?!

Hello lovelies!

I'm not much of a fashionista, I don't follow the trends, love shopping on the high street or even glance at Vogue BUT I do love some good internet browsing on my favourite sites - Forever 21 & New Look I'm talking about you.

I have noticed some things from all my window shopping and I thought I'd share my thoughts with you today in my first ever fashion post!

So the colours I'm seeing pop up everywhere this month are rose gold and mint (ooh Louise SprinkleOfGlitter wont you be in heaven). Looking through the accessory section of Forever 21 this is what you'll see...

I realise the Pinks power over the green here, but I'm just a sucker for the colour. See the bracelet in the middle top row? Yeah if you know me then *cough* it's my half birthday soon *cough* ;)

So I'm happy to see the pastel colours coming back, I am a big fan. So lets look forward to seeing these statement pieces this Spring and Summer! I don't know what else to say really, I'm new at this..
What are your thoughts on these pieces? Do let me know.

Until next time
